Washington’s Playground is the perfect destination for a winter vacation or a special family getaway.
We have sunny, cold winters and Mother Nature blesses us with fluffy, dry snow. Generally best December
through early April, you'll find downhill skiing and snowboarding, as well as excellent backcountry skiing
opportunities, groomed cross-country ski trails, and plenty of spots to snowmobile in one of Chelan
county’s nearly 20 winter fun spots. Whether you’re just out to travel and explore Washington State,
or you are coming for a longer visit, you will find all you need here in Washington’s Playground.
What better place for fun in the winter sun than in our ski resorts at Mission Ridge, Echo Valley, Leavenworth and Stevens Pass for alpine skiing and snowboarding? Mission Ridge boasts the highest base elevation and dry powder conditions. Full amenities, family friendly atmosphere and so many things to do are sure to make Washington’s Playground your favorite winter destination. Slide into your cross country skis for the well groomed Nordic ski trail systems throughout the valley. Visit a terrain park to practice your moves. Don’t forget ski racing, snow skating, ice climbing, backcountry skiing and snowmobiling, on your own or with a guide. Whatever winter activities you prefer, you'll find them here in Washington's Playground. After an exhilarating day of winter play, relax at one of our signature spas, or try a unique winter wine tour or limousine wine tour.
If you'd rather approach winter at a slower rate of speed, catch a Christmas Play, hand bell or harp concert or listen to the bells ring through the quiet of winter during your sleigh ride to see the Christmas lighting. Come share the magic of Christmas with us in our Village of Lights Christmas Festival, Flake Festival, or later in January at our Winter Fire and Ice Fest or Bavarian IceFest. You can try a sleigh or dog sled ride, take the kids sledding or tubing, or look for winter wildlife on a snowshoe tour in nature's splendor.
