Project Description

Welcome to your Lake Chelan Wine Valley, where water and wine come together for the ultimate lakeside tasting experience thanks to the gathering of world-class winemakers and our unique combination of glacially-carved soil, hot summer days, cool summer nights, and a stretched out growing season that draws out late summer sugars long after most grapes have left the vine. The Lake Chelan Valley may be a young wine destination, but it’s matured quickly. Designated as an official American Viticulture Area (AVA) in 2009, Lake Chelan offers a one-of-a-kind wine tasting experience featuring over 20 wineries hugging the shores of a breathtaking lake – each winery offering quality wines reflective of the distinctive personality of their grapes and their winemaker. One taste and you’ll agree: the Lake Chelan Wine Valley is naturally intoxicating. Follow us for a quick wine tour of several wineries in the Lake Chelan Wine Valley.

From luxurious and high-class, to down-home and raw, wine tours around Lake Chelan offer the full spectrum of experiences. Stroll through vineyards, see and smell the grapes, learn about the harvest and bottling processes, then sit back and relax with a glass of the vineyard’s finest while looking out over the crystal blue waters of Lake Chelan, expansive rolling hills covered in fruit orchards and vineyards, and high mountain peaks on the horizon.

Benson Vineyards Estate Winery is a Mediterranean-inspired estate winery that overlooks stunning Lake Chelan. It is family owned and operated by Paul and Kathy Benson and their two sons Scott and Jeff. By 2002, after removing an apple orchard and preparing the property for wine grapes, they had planted 23 acres of vineyard to 10 different vinifera grape varieties. Two years later in 2004, they got their first harvest and as of today have 7 red and 4 white varieties planted. Currently, there are over 12 different wines available to sample, including several award winners, and they are producing a little over 5,000 cases annually. Their warm, north shore, south facing slope vineyard produces premium-quality Chardonnay, Viognier, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Syrah, Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Nebbiolo, and Ice Wine.

Cairdeas (pronounced ‘Cardis’) is an ancient Gaelic word meaning friendship, goodwill or alliance. They believe in all three. Good wine should be shared with friends, goodwill spread at every opportunity, and alliances created with those who share our passion. They pull inspiration from the Rhône valley of France and craft delicious wines from Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Counoise, Cinsault (red grapes) and Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne, Grenache Blanc, Picpoul (white grapes) to craft some traditional and truly unique blends. Visit to taste several before choosing your favorite. Don’t miss the ones that recently took home 6 Double Gold & Gold medals at the 2015 Seattle Wine Awards.

Owned and operated by Angela and Quincy, you will find nothing less than AWESOME oozing from WineGirl Wines. Awesome wines, awesome people, awesome dogs, and awesome attitudes. Stop in on your wine tour for a tasting or kickback in the yard with a glass of wine. What most people don’t realize is that their phenomenal, award-winning wines are made by hand right on-site. Depending on the time of year, the winery may be filled with stacks of barrels or rows of fermentation bins. From Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc to Cabernet Franc and Malbec, they do it all with style in their little garage on the North Shore of Lake Chelan. Although they’re small and pack in the wine, they’re not short on flavor or personality! Visit for serious wines with friendly attitude.

Combining a long rich history in agriculture with an equally enduring passion for the winemaking process, owner/winemaker Mike Wade produces limited quantities of hand-crafted, premium red wines. Each Fall, a new vintage is released for your enjoyment. In his vision of the wine he would make at Fielding Hills, Mike did not set out to please everyone. His award-winning wines are big, mouth watering reds where the focus is letting the superb, fruit forward quality of the grapes grown at Riverbend Vineyard be the star. Using the smallest amount of sulfites, unfined and unfiltered, and aged in 80% new French and American oak, Fielding Hills wines are meant to be enjoyed from release to about 10 years. Fielding Hills has been family-owned since 2000 and their estate Riverbend Vineyard in the Wahluke Slope AVA provides grapes for award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and “Tribute”, our proprietary red blend.
