U-pick like a local

Call ahead

Picking conditions can change overnight. Check the farm's phone line or social media the morning you go.

Bring cash and a cooler

Some stands take cards, some don't. Summer afternoons are hot, so keep fruit cool for the drive home.

Stay in the rows

These are working farms. Pick only where you're directed, don't climb trees, and don't pull at branches.

Ripe fruit only

Leave unripe fruit for the next picker. Ask the farm how to tell when it's ready.

Keep kids close

Supervise children at all times around ladders, equipment and farm vehicles.

Respect posted hours

U-pick hours depend on the fruit and the heat. Many farms close early on hot days.
